A study published in the journal Nutrients found that water-soluble cannabidiol (CBD) products have higher absorption rates in the bloodstream compared to oil-based CBD. Through water-soluble technology, cannabinoids like Delta 9 THC can be seamlessly incorporated into various solutions, such as beverages, energy drinks, sodas, or water.

  • THC, or cannabinoids in general, are typically lipophilic substances and cannot disperse evenly in water. However, with nanotechnology and emulsifiers, THC can potentially be made water-soluble.

What is Water-Soluble THC?
Cannabinoids like Delta 9 THC are typically hydrophobic, meaning they don’t easily bind or dissolve in water. Imagine washing dishes with only water; without an emulsifier like dish soap, the grease from greasy food is difficult to remove.
Now with water-soluble Delta 9 THC, THC can be mixed with a water-based solution in a homogenous manner, allowing the cannabinoid to be absorbed into the bloodstream more easily and efficiently. Due to the increased absorption and bioavailability, the onset of action is significantly shortened, resulting in a faster onset of effect.
Water-soluble THC typically appears clear and colorless in solution. It should not appear cloudy, nor should it precipitate in solution. For THC to truly dissolve in water, it must be altered at the molecular level. THC below this level should not be considered water-soluble.
